VOTER SUPPRESSION VS VOTER FRAUD
Republicans claimed widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election, while Democrats cited voter suppression as the real issue. What is the difference and what does it say about America’s political landscape?
The Trump Campaign’s persistence in proving Election fraud ultimately highlights a divide between the conservatives and liberals and the country in general. Many conservatives see American’s election problems as a result of fraud but liberals see the country's election procedure that ties to suppress thousands of votes.
While voter suppression and voter fraud are interchangeable across parties, they mean completely different things. Voter fraud is illegal interference with the election process. Voter suppression is the action of inhibiting or discouraging people from voting. The ‘fraud’ that is all over the news today, is not caused by illegal interference, it is caused by human error and hiccups in America’s complicated election system. Once again, each side seems to be arguing over a different set of facts.
